There’s been a lot of talk about whether you should work a full-time job while building your side hustle or if you should focus all your efforts on your side Hustle only. I can see the argument for both even though I’m on one side of the fence.
So I’m going to show you a couple different reasons why you should have a full-time job while building your side Hustle.
Money for Bills
When you live life you inevitably will have bills to pay unless you’re living with your parents. So while you’re waiting for your side hustle to become your main Hustle, having a nine-to-five job is good to be able to pay the bills.
On the flip side of this your 9 to 5 job can fund your side Hustle. whether this is seed money, investment money, or even money to purchase items for your side hustle. You will have a consistent stream of income to offset those things
Benefits
Another great thing for having a full-time job is benefits. Health, dental, eye insurance, or even more important things like life insurance, paid leave, and even vacation time.
These are some of the benefits of having a full-time job, something that the side hustle can’t give you yet. Most employers offer other benefits and I suggest you look into them while you’re working for them.
Something to Fall Back On
If you’re like most people you usually go through a couple different side hustles before you find one that sticks. This is okay and is very normal. Everything that glitters isn’t gold and everything that works for you doesn’t always make money.
Having a full-time job will allow you to have something to fall back on in case your side hustle doesn’t work out. Or this job will tide you over until the next side hustle makes you money. You always have that safety net there to prepare you for a soft landing just in case you need it.
Patience
Something that a full-time job will teach you is patience, for most side hustles it takes some time to be able to build a stable income. I’m talking years for a sustainable amount of money to come in.
So while you are waiting for this breakthrough, your full-time job will allow you to have patience in your side hustle and not rush it. Because if you rush this you will not be able to build the foundation correctly which could lead to your downfall. Patience is key
Side Hustle
So we talked a lot about what your full-time job should be able to do for you but now it’s time to learn what your side hustle should and could be used for. A lot of people start side hustles for multiple reasons whether it’s extra income for bills or money for vacations or to replace their full-time job.
So when you are contemplating which side hustle to start, or if you should continue the side hustle make sure you are doing it for the right reason. And the right reason is whatever you want it to be from the start
Rob’s Opinion
For me a side hustle is something that will supplement my income so that I can put more money into investments as well as be able to have a safety net in case my job lets me go.
Side hustles and full-time jobs can work hand-in-hand, using the benefits from your full-time job and the extra income from your hustle will allow you to have a better financial foundation.
Whatever your reason may be, make sure that you are true to yourself because it takes a lot of work to be successful. I always say if it was easy everybody would do it but because it’s hard it makes it that much sweeter.
