Now that I’ve told you what to look for in a travel card, I’m going to give you a list of the top five travel cards available right now. I’m not endorsing any particular card, as these are just the current popular choices for travel rewards cards. However, I do currently hold one of these cards. You’ll have to find out which one!
Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card
This is a well-known credit card company that offers a lot of reliable perks. But how well does the Chase Sapphire card perform in terms of travel rewards? On their website, they boast about their flexible rewards program, where you can earn points and even bonus points for travel and dining. When you use these points, you can redeem them for various benefits on their website or transfer them to airline and hotel loyalty programs.
Capital One Venture Rewards Card
If you’ve ever seen a Capital One commercial, then you would know that Samuel L. Jackson is the voice behind it. The Venture Rewards card from Capital One will give you unlimited 2X miles per dollar spent using the card. The great thing about this card is that it applies to anything you use it for. Some credit card companies only provide a multiplier for miles when you purchase flights, hotels, or other kinds of travel. However, with this card, you can use it for anything and still enjoy the same benefits, making it suitable for everyday use. The real benefits come into play when you travel. Similar to most cards, you can redeem these points or transfer them for future travels.
American Express Platinum Card
The American Express Platinum Card could be considered one of the best travel cards out there when it comes to rewards, benefits, and perks. The biggest difference with this card is that you have access to their Centurion airport lounges, which can be described as world-class. You can also receive hotel status upgrades for Marriott and Hilton, as well as travel insurance coverage through this credit card company. The customer service is another highlight, as it is considered some of the best out there. Holding an American Express Platinum Card definitely comes with a certain prestige.
Citi Premier® Card
Now, this Citi card can be considered a travel card or not, depending on your perspective. It earns points on travel, dining, entertainment, and mostly anything, and you can transfer these points to Citi’s airline partners. This is a good card to have if you don’t want the pressure of having to spend a lot of money with a travel card just to offset the annual fee or justify owning it.
Discover it® Miles
This card is very important because it has no annual fee. You earn 1.5X miles per dollar on all purchases made with this card, and you have the opportunity to redeem those miles for statement credits or transfer them to other airline and hotel partners with Discover. It is truly one of the best cards to have.
