Growing up I did not have Sloppy Joes a lot. So to make up for it I saw this recipe online that had the sloppy joe inside of biscuit dough. This made it a game changer. I didn’t have the right utensils that they recommend from the recipe but I was able to improvise by using an empty egg carton and some parchment paper, you’ll see what I mean later.

This recipe was inspired by The Food Network.

Ingredients

  • ½ lb Ground Beef
  • 1 Green Bell Pepper, Diced
  • 1 Onion, Diced
  • 1 cup BBQ Sauce
  • ⅓ cup Ketchup
  • 1 Tbsp Worcestershire Sauce
  • 3 Tbsp Brown Sugar
  • 2 Tbsp Garlic Powder
  • 2 Tbsp Onion Powder
  • 1 Tsp Paprika
  • 1 Tsp Chile Powder
  • 1 Tbsp Cayenne Pepper
  • 4 Tbsp Melted Butter
  • 2 Tubes Buttermilk Biscuit Dough

Instructions

  1. Add ground beef in a skillet over medium high heat. Cook for about 5 minutes until brown and no more pink is present.
  2. Add Bell Pepper and Onion to the skillet and cook for about 5 minutes.
  3. Add the BBQ Sauce, Ketchup, and Seasonings. Cook until the sauce is thickened up. About 5 minutes.
  4. Let the sauce cool to room temp.
  5. Now here is the part where you take a mini muffin tin, or if youre without like I was. Take an empty egg carton with parchment paper. And fill each hole with sloppy joe mixture.
  6. Freeze for at least an hour
  7. After the hour preheat your oven to 375 degrees
  8. Open the biscuit tube and lay out your biscuit rounds, split each round from the top and bottom.
  9. Press each round into a wider circle.
  10. Place one frozen joe per round. And fold the edges up and roll into balls so that no filing is seen from the outside.
  11. Repeat for the remaining filling.
  12. Put the stuffed dough on parchment paper in a baking sheet and brush dough with melted butter.
  13. Bake until starting to brown, or about 20 minutes.
  14. Take melted better

Rob’s Opinion

I decided to start posting the different dishes and recipes that I cook during the week because one, I’ve been told I’m a pretty good cook. And two, I’m tired of finding recipes only to have to scroll through all of the unnecessary stuff to get to the ingredients and the steps to make the food. Not to mention the mountain of ads that pop up.

The recipes that I post on this blog are all recipes that I have cooked. So I will make sure I let you all in on what I do to the dish to enhance its flavors and truly make it one of a kind. If you enjoyed this dish, be sure to come back next week. Like always, if you have any questions leave a comment down below and I will do my best to answer it.
