A staple in a lot of southern homes and African American ones. Collard Greens help stretch the meal whether it’s with cornbread or a full thanksgiving meal. So today let’s dive into how to make them.

This recipe was inspired by Divas Can Cook.

Ingredients

  • 1 bunches of collard greens
  • 1 Tbsp of Black Pepper
  • 1 pack of Smoked Turkey Legs or Wings
  • 1 Bouillon Cube
  • 2 peppers of choice

Instructions

  1. Wash each leaf with water and wipe with a paper towel if needed.
  2. Roll up one leaf and cut into slices like sushi.
  3. In a large pot add greens and fill with water enough to allow to boil
  4. Add Bouillon Cube and chopped peppers and Smoked Turkey
  5. Cover and let boil for about an hour. Stirring Occasionally Make sure water doesn’t boil out.
  6. Add black pepper if needed.
  7. Once the greens reach your level of tenderness Serve and Enjoy

Rob’s Opinion

*There are alot of vague descriptions in this recipe because greens are something that you have to feel with your heart. If you don’t feel like it. Maybe you need to go to another recipe.*

I decided to start posting the different dishes and recipes that I cook during the week because one, I’ve been told I’m a pretty good cook. And two, I’m tired of finding recipes only to have to scroll through all of the unnecessary stuff to get to the ingredients and the steps to make the food. Not to mention the mountain of ads that pop up.

The recipes that I post on this blog are all recipes that I have cooked. So I will make sure I let you all in on what I do to the dish to enhance its flavors and truly make it one of a kind. If you enjoyed this dish, be sure to come back next week. Like always, if you have any questions leave a comment down below and I will do my best to answer it.
