We all love to travel, and some people even get paid to travel, which I think is one of the best jobs you can have. But for us regular people who have to pay to travel, I’m going to let you in on a little secret that can allow you to travel the world without spending any extra money. It sounds too good to be true, but many people are doing it as we speak.

Sign up for Travel Rewards Credit Cards

Most credit card companies offer rewards to people who open an account with them. These rewards and promotional offers usually include bonuses such as doubling your points by the end of the first year or earning a certain number of points if you spend a specific amount within the first few months of opening the account.

When you receive these sign-up bonuses, it’s important to meet the criteria to get the extra points. If you sign up for two credit cards a year and receive the bonus points, it can add up to a lot of extra points for doing things you were already doing, such as buying groceries or gas.

Maximize Your Rewards

Next, you want to maximize the rewards you’re getting from these credit card companies. Some cards specialize in everyday purchases like groceries, gas, and dining out, while others will specifically offer 5x points for travel-related expenses such as booking flights, hotels, or any type of extra excursions. So, make sure you’re doing all you can to maximize the points you’re earning by spending at certain locations and on certain things.

Know How to Redeem Points

Now, this one is very important because once you accumulate all those points, you need to know how to best redeem them so you can get the most bang for your buck. Even though they might say that you can transfer points for a flight or for a hotel, it doesn’t necessarily mean that’s the best thing you should do.

There are a lot of sites out there that will allow you to check what the conversion rate is for certain points on your credit card to companies that allow you to travel, such as Delta Airlines points may be best used for their airline or you could do a couple of conversions to get 2X or even 3X times the points for another airline. It’s all about how you choose to redeem them.

Look for Special Offers

The last thing I would mention is to look for special offers that credit card companies release at certain times of the year. Even if you already have a credit card, companies often send promotional offers through email to entice you to spend or transfer points to them. One good offer I have seen is a company that allows you to transfer a loan to them with 0% interest for the first year or two. Small things like this can eventually add up and allow you to travel for free just by using credit cards.

Rob’s Opinion

This is something I took advantage of during the pandemic by signing up for a credit card with a promotional offer of several thousand points if I spent a certain amount of money within the first six months. When you receive these offers, the key is to only use that credit card to make purchases in order to easily meet the criteria for earning more points. Then, you can transfer the points and either close the credit card or continue using it if you like.

If you are looking to make a quick buck there are thousands of ways to do it. But the most important thing is that you build something sustainable that will pay you for the rest of your life. To be put years ahead of everyone else, head over to my Wealth Building Playlist to find out how.
