If you are like most people, you only really work because you need money to pay the bills. So why not try to leave your day job for something that will give you more freedom. More freedom to travel, spend time with family, or work on your passion. I am going to give you some hints that will help you escape your day job as soon as possible.
What is your Dream?
Before you start running around trying to get more money, you need to really understand why you want to leave your 9 to 5 job. You need to discover what kind of lifestyle you want to have.
In order to do this, take a piece of paper and write down all of the things that you would do with the extra time that you have if you weren’t working your full time job. Once you get this list, get another piece of paper and write in detail your ideal day, from when you wake up until you fall asleep.
Take these lists and read them to yourself 10 times a day. This will do two things, the first it will put you in the right mindset of escaping your 9 to 5. The second thing it will do is show what you are shooting for, because If you don’t have a goal you won’t have the drive.
Money
Before you quit your job and walk out you have to understand how you are going to still provide for you and your family. That is when you need to start thinking about what venture you want to go into.
You can start your own business in something that you are passionate about. You can do freelance work, which is what you are doing now but under contracts. This time it’s mostly remote work when you are under contract. That will give you more freedom to travel and move how you want to. Another option is to ask for remote work from the company that you work for now. Ultimately, you need to save money and invest to be able to leave that 9 to 5 sooner.
Set a Time Limit
You need to set your time for when you want to leave that 9 to 5. You have that goal written on the piece of paper, you need to set yourself some tight deadlines. Make a one, five, and ten year plan. The goals need to align and you need to have actionable steps towards those goals as well.
Plan it Out
Now that you have all of your ducks in a row, the next thing you need to do is go out there and make it happen. Nobody is stopping you from chipping away at this goal but you. No matter how long it takes you, it will be well worth it.
Rob’s Opinion
A Lot of times people read these posts and realize that it is a lot more work to accomplish this than they first realized. That is when I come in and tell you that more than likely this is not going to happen just from reading this post. You need someone to take you through each step on how to build wealth. You also need some money making hobbies that are going to be sustainable, and passive, so you can set it up once and forget. That is when my Wealth Building Playlist comes in handy.
