Your Grocery bill is sometimes the largest bill in the household if you have a lot of mouths to feed. So today I am going to show you how to become a Mystery shopper. And through this either get your food paid for, or get extra money to help supplement that grocery bill.

What is a Mystery Shopper

To start off a mystery shopper is someone who goes into an establishment in order for the owners to really see what the raw customer experience is like. This is done through a couple of ways.

You could visit the store and pick up certain items and check out, or you could go to a certain restaurant and order a meal or two. The options are endless. The only thing that you have to do is make sure you fill out the survey with details of the experience. Easy Peasy right?

How Much Money Could I Make

You are compensated through different methods. Sometimes you get cash and reimbursed for the goods that you purchased while doing your action. Plus you will get compensated for your time.

Other times they will just give you a lump sum payment if you are completing an action that does not require you to purchase anything.

The last method of payment is strictly reimbursement. They will usually do this if you are visiting a restaurant, where the main perk of this is just the free food that you got to enjoy.

It takes a while for the deposits to hit your account just from a logistical standpoint so make sure you are tracking all of your jobs.

How Do I Become One

You simply start by googling mystery shopping jobs. There are a lot of sites that will link you to companies that need mystery shoppers. Like any job you have to apply and they do not accept everyone. One of the biggest criteria is age, as you may have to buy alcohol, or shop at a trendy store. And you need to look age appropriate.

Once you are passed the application stage they will start sending you jobs to do. If you live in a big city then you will have no problem finding jobs that you like. If you are in a smaller city like myself the jobs are sometimes few and far between or redundant

Scams

You would be surprised at the amount of scams around mystery shoppers. So I am going to give you a couple of tips to make sure that it doesn’t happen to you. The first being never pay to join a mystery shopping company. The legit ones never ask for payment.

The real companies also don’t force you to take jobs. Or hound you for missing opportunities. If they do then more than likely they are trying to scam you into spending your own money. Lastly I would say check the online reviews of whichever company you decide to join.

Rob’s Opinion

I was a mystery shopper at one point in life, but I never got around to actually doing any jobs. I became too busy with school and work. I did see the benefit of becoming one as it is a great way to supplement income.

If you are looking to make a quick buck there are thousands of ways to do it. But the most important thing is that you build something sustainable that will pay you for the rest of your life. To be put years ahead of everyone else, head over to my Wealth Building Playlist to find out how.
